ஈழத்தவரான திரு. குகதாசன் தம்பிப்பிள்ளை டென்மார்க்கில் மாவட்டநீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகள் குழுவிற்கு தெரிவுசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். டென்மார்க்கிலுள்ள இரண்டு மாவட்ட நீதிமன்றங்களில் ஒன்றான மேற்குமாவட்ட நீதிமன்றத்திற்கு ஜனவரி மாதம் முதலாம் திகதியிலிருந்து நீதிபதியாக அவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

டென்மார்க்கில் பத்திரிகையாளராகவும் கணணிதொழில்நுட்பவியலாளருமாக பணியாற்றி வரும் இவர் சர்வதேச தமிழ் செய்தியாளர் ஒன்றியத்தின் செயலாளராகவும் தமது பணியை செய்து வருகின்றார். டென்மார்க் ஊடகவியலாளர் சங்கத்திலும் பெல்யியத்திலுள்ள சர்வதேச ஊடகவியலாளார் சம்மேளனத்திலும் உறுப்பினராக உள்ளார்.

The  well known singer M.I.A., who has carved a niche in the young music scene, for her ‘eclectic range of hip-hop, dance hall and electronic music’ as much as for her vibrant coloured attire, has released her latest album Kala revealing, according to David Dye ‘her unique political perspectives.’

Few may be aware of M.I.A’s background.  Young M.I.A. is none other than the daughter of the well known Tamil activist A R Arulpragasam better known as Arular after whom an earlier album of M.I.A. was named. This young lady achieved fame by being banned from travelling to the United States purely because of her father’s political views!

Tamils of the Diaspora should be aware that this young lady has stuck to her political ideals that she learnt from her father.

The USA that banned M.I.A. is in the midst of its four yearly ‘jamboree’ that the two parties, the Democrats and the Republicans hold, to select their president. Few persons, including some Americans I have met, are aware that their president is not directly elected as in most other countries. No. The US president is elected by an ‘Electoral College’ which in turn is directly elected by the people. It is this ‘College’ that elects the president. There is very little serious political consideration involved in the process. Often, the outcome depends on the amount of money a candidate has at his disposal. This pays for intense media publicity; posters; flags; bands and tinsel and the like – one long carnival! The tax deductible money for all this, comes from the many firms and business around the country, who in turn expect ‘favours’ if their candidate were to be elected.

eetings Oru readers, let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year. It seems like it was only a short time ago that I wrote an article about the origins and significance of pongal and yet another year has passed and pongal is here once again. And what a year it has been! So much has changed for so many of us, we continue to grow in mind, body and soul and the world around is also changing rapidly. Good events and bad events precede one another and each day someone somewhere in the world is suffering.

What this past year has taught me is that nothing is forever, not ideas, not possessions nor life…nothing is forever. However there was one thing that I found that never ever perishes and that precious thing is ‘hope’. Pongal is a significant time of hope for as the great saying goes ‘thai pirandhal vazhi pirrakkum’ (literal translation = month is born, the way is born) meaning that when the month of Thai dawns there will be way of love, peace, harmony, prosperity, joyousness in everyone's life.

When so much is going on in the tumultuous world we live in, we often forget to hope and instead turn to other means to try to achieve what we want – and not all of them are right, but we do it anyway. What we should try and remember is that like each one of us there are millions more people hoping for things that are important to them and each of their hopes and dreams are just as precious as our own.

By hoping one can persevere and get through even the toughest times, to place your hope and faith in a higher allows each of us the strength to get through life. To hope ensures that you never ever give up and succeed in achieving what you want no matter how hard that may be; Pongal is a time when this hope is given praise to.

One should not be surprised that with the advent of internet, we are being bombarded with the weekly fiction of Tamil fiction writers, whose canvas is mainly limited to LTTE’s personalities. B. Raman, Col. R. Hariharan (Retd.), N. Sathiya Moorthy and last but not the least D.B.S. Jeyaraj have been the major names in this game of fiction writing. Here are four samples from these fiction writers, about Thamilselvan which in my opinion tell something about the incestuous thoughts of these LTTE gossip mongers.

(2) “Thamilselvan, the presumed No.3 in the pecking order of the LTTE leadership after Prabakaran and Pottu Amman, the chief of the intelligence wing of the LTTE, was the only leader not involved in any major act of terrorism either in Sri Lankan or Indian territory…” – B. இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னமேயே கொலை செய்யப்பட்டு பிணமாகிப் போய்விட்ட புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்ததம் தற்பொழுது மகிந்தவின் அரசு அடக்கமும் செய்யப்பட்டு விட்டது. கொலை செய்ததும் சிங்கள அரசுதான். அடக்கம் செய்ததும் சிங்கள அரசுதான்.
  விடுதலைப் புலிகள்தான் முதலில் புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தை மீறினார்கள் என்றும், அதிகளவிலான யுத்தநிறுத்த மீறல்களை விடுதலைப் புலிகள் மேற்கொண்டார்கள் என்றும் சிறிலங்கா அரசும், அதனுடைய ஒட்டுக் குழுக்களும் பிரச்சாரத்தை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றார்கள். ஆனால் இது எந்த வகையிலும் உண்மை இல்லை.

நோர்வே நாட்டில் தொழில் பெற்று தத்தமது துறைகளில் முன்னணி வகிக்கும் பத்து வெளிநாட்டவர்களில் ஒருவராக ஈழத்தவரான திரு. இராஜன் செல்லையா தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்.

நோர்வேயில், வேலைவாய்ப்பு பெறுவதில் வெளிநாட்டவர்கள் எதிர்நோக்கும் தடைகளை கண்டறிவதற்காக நியமிக்கப்பட்ட ஆய்வுக்குழுவினரே தொழில்துறையில் தடம்பதித்துள்ள 10 வெளிநாட்டவர்களை வருடாவருடம் தெரிந்து விருது வழங்கி வருகிறார்கள். இவ்விதமான சிறப்பிப்பு மூலம், இவர்களினை முன்மாதிரியாகக்கொள்வதன் மூலம் மற்றய வெளிநாட்டவர்களை ஊக்குவிக்க முடியும் எனக்கருதும் இக்குழு 2007ம் ஆண்டுகான விருதினை பெறும் பத்துப் பேரில் ஒருவராக ஊடகவியலாளர் இராஜனை தெரிவு செய்துள்ளது.

பிரித்தானிய தமிழர் அமைப்பு வேண்டுகோள்

போர்நிறுத்த ஒப்பந்த்திலிருந்து விலகி தமிழ்மக்களுக்கு எதிரான போரை தீவிரப்படுத்தியிருக்கும் சிறிலங்கா அரசுக்கு வருமானத்தை பெற்றுக்கொடுக்கும் சிறிலங்கா எயர்லைன்ஸ் விமானங்களில பயணிப்பதை தவிர்க்கவேண்டுமென பிரித்தானிய தமிழர் பேரவை வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்துள்ளது.

இது தொடர்பாக கடந்த செவ்வாய் (15 ஐனவரி) தைப்பொங்கல் தினத்தன்று மதியம் மத்திய லண்டனில் ஊடகவியலாளர் மாநாடு ஒன்றினை நடாத்திய இவ்வமைப்பு தனது இந்த வேண்டுகோளை பிரித்தானிய மக்களிடம் தெரிவிக்குமாறு அங்கு திரண்டிருந்த ஊடகவியலாளர்களைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டது.

மேற்படி தங்களது கருத்துகளுக்கு பதில்தரும் நோக்குடன் தரப்பட்டுள்ள இக்கடிதத்தை பத்திரிகை-தர்மத்துக்கு இணங்க தங்களது பத்திரிகையில் எதுவித மாற்றங்களையும் செய்யாது பிரசுரிப்பீகள் என்பதில் எமக்கு நம்பிக்கை. மேலே எமது தாழ்மையான கருத்துகள்.

சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் போர் நிறுத்த உடன்பாட்டிலிருந்து உத்தியோகபூர்வமாக விலகிக்கொண்ட சிலமணிநேரத்திலேயே இலங்கைத்தீவில் உள்ள மக்கள் அழிவுகளை சந்தித்துள்ளார்கள். மொனராகல மாவட்டத்தில் பயணிகள் பேருந்துமீது நடாத்தப்பட்ட தாக்குதலும், நேற்றய தினம் கிளிநொச்சி கனகபுரம் பகுதியிலுள்ள மக்கள் குடியிருப்புக்கள் மீது நடாத்தப்பட்ட மோசமான விமானக்குண்டுத் தாக்குதல்களும் தீவு எதிர்நோக்கியுள்ள பாரிய மனித அவலத்தை கோடிகாட்டி நிற்கின்றன.

தாங்கள் போரில் வென்று வருகிறோம் என்ற நினைப்பு சிங்கள மக்களுக்கு இருக்கும்வரை சிறிலங்கா அரசின் போர் முயற்சிகளுக்கு அவர்கள் தமது ஆதரவினை வழங்குவார்கள். அங்கு குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையாக இருக்கிற சமாதான ஆர்வலர்களினால் இந்நிலையில் எந்த மாற்றத்தையும் கொண்டுவர முடியாது.

மழையில் நனைந்த நிலமும் மாரியில் கரைந்த புழுதியுமாக அந்தநாள். ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டு வாசலிலும் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் விசாரித்தபடி பூசனியக்கா போனதும் , அதன் பின் அவரது வீட்டிலிருந்து கேட்ட அழுகையும் அதன் பின்னால் நடந்த பூசனியக்காவின் சாவும் அந்தச் சிறுவயதில் அழுவதைத்தவிர வேறெதையும் செய்யத் தெரியவில்லை. நஞ்சருந்தி தற்கொலை பண்ணிய பூசனியக்காவின் இழப்பானது அவரது குடும்பத்தைவிட மற்றவர்களுக்கு வளமையான ஒரு மரணவீடு. சில தசாப்தங்களைக் காலம் அள்ளிக் கொண்டு போன பின்னர் என் ஞாபகங்களுக்குள் பூசனியக்கா..... எங்கள் ஊரின் அன்றைய அழகி பூசனியக்கா. இராமநாதன் கல்லூரியில் படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த எங்கள் அழகியைத் தேடி ஊருக்குள் இளைஞர்கள் வருவார்கள். சமாதிகோவில் வளவுக்குள் கூட்டம் வைப்பார்கள் , நோட்டீஸ் குடுப்பார்கள் , ஏதோ சத்தமாக விவாதிப்பார்கள்.
