விடுதலைப் புலிகள் சிறிலங்காப் படைகளுக்கு எதிராக பாரிய தாக்குதலை நடத்தப் போகின்றார்கள் என்கின்ற பரபரப்பான எதிர்பார்ப்பு பல மட்டங்களில் நிலவி வருகின்றது.

"மன்னாரில் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் படையணிகளை குவிக்கின்றார்கள்", "மணலாறு மீது தாக்குதல் நடத்தப் போகிறார்கள்" போன்ற செய்திகளையும் ஆய்வுகளையும் கொழும்பில் இருந்து வரும் சிங்கள, ஆங்கில ஊடகங்கள் வெளியிட்டு வருகின்றன. இந்த ஆய்வுகளை தமிழ் ஊடகங்களும் மறுபிரசுரம் செய்ய, அதைப் படித்த தமிழ் மக்கள் மத்தியிலும் எதிர்பார்ப்பு அதிகரித்துப் போய் கிடக்கிறது.

From my heading you would probably have guessed what this issue’s article is particularly about. As you know, I write my articles on my own experiences or of others around me. In this particular article, I have decided to write about the lives of many Tamil girls who are increasingly falling in love with other race boys (just not tamil ) and the same goes for boys. In the last few weeks I have come across so much criticism from many tamils about my friend who is dating a black guy. Before I go on to talk about her deeply I would like to let you all know that she is a very nice and very shy and very quite girl ( just so that you guys don’t start saying she’s this n that).

As I was saying; She is a lovely quite girl who usually keeps to her work, however that lovely quite girl was disturbed by a black hero who took her away into his dreams and told her that he really liked her and since that day they have hanged out at lunch and breaks and have even walked home together. But as all love stories have a twist in them. This little fairytale was ended with a another tamil guy seeing this girl with the black boy doing shopping. And ten came the climax when everyone she knew was advising her and talking bad about her and why? Because she was in love with a black guy.

Tell me honestly, even before you began to read the article; just reading the title made you think twice did it not. You might have quickly thought “ is she mad, how is this possible…” You imagination must have ran wild with similar thoughts. This is all because we have been brought up in a way to think like that and to rebel against these rare love affairs and marriages. We were not born to think as such but brought up, and if we can be trained to think bad about these love affairs between two different race lovers then we can definitely be trained to accept as well. After all life is about learning new things is it not?

எண்பதுகளின் ஆரம்பத்தில் ஈழவிடுதலைப்போராட்டம் முகிழ்த்துக் கொண்ட நேரத்தில், அரசபயங்கரவாதத்தின் கொடுரங்களால் மக்கள் அல்லல்பட ஆரம்பித்தபோது உள்நாட்டில் நடைபெறும் சம்பவங்கள் பற்றிய செய்திகளை சிறிலங்கா அரசு திரித்து வெளியிட்டு வந்தது. அதே சமயம் தங்களை பாதிக்கும் செய்திகளை தணிக்கை செய்து இருட்டடிப்பு செய்து வந்தது. அதுவரை காலமும் செய்திகளை அறிய தமிழர்கள் நாடிவந்த கொழும்பை தளமாகக் கொண்டு இயங்கி வந்த செய்தித்தாள்களும், சிறிலங்கா அரச கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள இலங்கை வானொலியும் போதுமானதாக இருக்கவில்லை.

மட்டக்களப்பு மாந்திரீகத்தைப் பற்றி எழுதும்போது பலவிடயங்கள் ஞாபகத்துக்கு வருகின்றன.  அதுபற்றிய மேலும் சில சுவராசியமான செய்திகளை விட்டு விட்டு இத்தொடரை வேறு ரிசைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்ல மனம் இடம் தரவில்லை.  அதனால் தொடர்கிறேன்.   இவை அனைத்தும் நான் நேரில் கண்டு கேட்டு அறிந்துகொண்ட விடயங்கள்.

Ponnambalam Jr.’s Assertions

The International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) is the public house built by Dr.Neelan Tiruchelvam (born 1944), in 1982. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of ICES, and its opportune to think a little about the deals of Dr.Neelan and why ICES came to be built. One should search for clues beyond what is presented in the website of ICES. The ICES was built at the time when Cold War rhetoric was flourishing. The chief patron of ICES was the Ford Foundation, one of the grand wands of American philanthropy cum diplomatic maneuvers.

Until Neelan Tiruchelvam’s assassination on July 29, 1999, I had read a few disgruntled commentaries penned by anti-Tamil polemicists such as Dr.Susantha Goonetilake and H.L.D.Mahindapala on the pernicious influence on the Sri Lankan policy making by the local relays of Yankee imperial agents (read as Dr.Neelan Tiruchelvam) and their public house of dubious repute (read as ICES).

I had initially felt that these were sour grape comments of Sinhalese analysts who lacked Neelan Tiruchelvam’s talent in attracting American funding. However, following his assassination such overt criticism on Neelan became muted, since projecting Neelan (a fellow Tamil ethnic) as an unfortunate victim of LTTE brutality was good for pro-Sinhalese propaganda. Thus, a ‘dead Neelan’ became the darling of these same carrion-feeding commentators.

Tiruchelvam was a CIA agent

மிக அண்மைக்காலத்தில் அரசியல் தஞ்சம்கோரி பிரித்தானியாவிற்குள்; வந்தவர்கள் விரைவான விசாரணை (fast track) என்ற புதிய நடைமுறையின் கீழ் விசாரிக்கப்பட்டு அவர்களது தஞ்ச விண்ணப்பம் நிராகரிக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில், திருப்பி அனுப்பப்படுவதற்காக தடுப்பு முகாம்களில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். நாடு திரும்பும் பட்சத்தில் தமது உயிருக்கு எந்தவிதமான உத்தரவாதமும் இல்லாத நிலையில் பெரும் அச்சத்தில் வாழும் இவர்கள் கவனயீர்ப்பு நடவடிக்கையாக கடந்த இரண்டுவாரமாக உண்ணா நிலை போராட்டத்தில் இறங்கியுள்ளனர். இப்போராட்டத்திற்கு முழு ஆதரவையும் வழங்க வேண்டியது பிரித்தானியாவிலும் மற்றய நாடுகளிலும் வாழும் புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழர்களின் கடமையாக உள்ளது.

வாழ்க்கையில் சாதிக்கவேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை எல்லாருக்குமே இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் அந்த ஆசை எல்லாருக்கும் நிறைவேறுவது இல்லை. அதுவும் நம் பெண்களில் அதிக பேருக்கு அது நிராசை ஆகிவிடுகிறது.

சிறு வயதிலிருந்தே படி படி என்று பெற்றவர்கள் தொல்லை தாங்க முடியாமல் விழுந்து விழுந்து படிக்கிறார்கள் நம் பெண்கள். அதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் நான் பெரிய கம்ப்யூட்டர் என்ஜினியர் ஆக வேண்டும் டாக்டர் ஆக வேண்டும் டீச்சர் ஆக வேண்டும் என்று லட்சியத்தோடு இருக்கும் இவர்கள் ஏன் இவர்கள் லட்சியத்தை அடைவதில்லை? இதற்கு காரணம் இவர்களா? இவர்களை பெற்றவர்களா? இல்லை இவர்கள்ந கணவர்களா?

When looking at the current situation in the Tamil Northeast, an observer will find Armed Forces of the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) occupying Tamil land and oppressing the local population. This occupation and oppression has been festering for almost thirty years now. Combined with ethnically-exclusive colonies built on stolen Tamil land, and ethnically-segregated road networks, where many routes can only be accessed by the Sinhalese settlers.

Barbed wired and land mined security zones surround Tamil towns and villages, not only cutting them off from one another, but also cutting off farmers from their lands, children from their schools, patients from their hospitals and workers from their jobs.

Sinhalese Forces control all of the Tamils’ openings to the outside world, stifling not only Tamils’ freedom of movement, but also their culture, education, economy and trade.

Sinhalese Armed Forces are regularly unleashed on civilian populations in Tamil Northeast, murdering thousands and killing innocent children with complete impunity.

The Sri Lankan government has allies who are unabashed fascists who openly and regularly call for ethnic cleansing and mass murder of Tamils as a solution to the conflict.

The GOSL continues to deny thousands of Tamils their legal right to return to their own homes from which they were ethnically cleansed in the last thirty years or so in the name of high security zones.

All of the aforementioned crimes by GOSL constitute clear violations of the EU Neighbourhood Policy terms under which EU neighbours get preferential access to EU markets and a slew of other benefits and perks.
