Manchester United F.C. are the champions of England, after it was proved mathematically impossible for Chelsea to catch Man United. Chelsea, the reigning Premiership champions drew 1-1 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, as Manchester United defeated Manchester City 0-1 on Saturday thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s first half spot kick, and a crucial penalty save by Van der Sar from Vassell. Manchester United are 7 points clear of Chelsea with only 2 games left, including a mouth watering yet meaningless clash with clash with Chelsea, and another much more imperative game in the F.A. Cup Final, ironically against runners up Chelsea.
At the other end of the table Charlton joined Watford in relegation after a 0-2 defeat to Tottenham. It looks likely Wigan will also be in the Championship, but if they can muster a win at Sheffield United and West Ham lose away to Manchester United they will stay up on superior goal difference.
In the German league, it is now assured Bayern Munich will not qualify to the Champions League, as they are below the top three.
The Spanish league provided a 5 – goal sizzler with Real Madrid defeating title contenders Seville 3-2. Barcelona are in pole position, 2 points ahead.

John Higgins won the World Championship 18-13 against the “ Jester from Leicester” Mark Selby. Higgins “ The Wizard of Wilshaw” played superbly and the tie seemed over when it was 12-4 to him. However, on-song youngster Selby got 6 straight wins to pull it back to 12-10 in Monday’s afternoon session. Higgins finally got a frame, but with the long game heading in to the late, late hours of Monday, both players struggled, with no breakers over 50 in a scrappy straight 8 frames,. But with Selby just a frame behind at 13-14, the Scotsman held his nerve to get 4 frames in row, winning the first to 18 frames/ best of 37 frames match. The final was so exciting it took until 00:54 a.m. Tuesday. He wins the £220,000 prize deservedly, knocking out Stephen Maguire and Ronnie O’Sullivan on the way. He is now the World Number 1 in Snooker while Selby plummets 28th to 11th!

New England have confirmed that they acquired star receiver Randy Moss from Oakland in exchange for a fourth-round selection in last weekend's NFL draft.
Moss is the only player in NFL history to record 1,000 or more receiving yards in each of his first six NFL seasons.
He spent two unproductive seasons with the Raiders - the NFL's worst team in 2006 - after seven with Minnesota.
"I'm still overwhelmed and kind of star-struck that I am part of the Patriots organization," said Moss, 30.
