In this article I would like to elaborate on the important things that have been shown in this film. This is a really sentimental film, which shows all kinds of emotions, and for example how parents should be treated.

At the start of the film, you see honest parents, hardworking bringing up their children, in order to give them a high standard of education. It is clearly shown how especially the father works so hard day and night , and takes them on the bicycle everyday to school in the burning sun. This relates to our life too. We young people sometimes don't realise how much our fathers/mothers work so hard. Whether they have an easy job or not, the effort put for us will always be the same.
We tend to take money for granted, and forget all their hard work behind it. We should understand the struggle our parents go through, and so respect it.
Secondly, we see in the film Ramalingham who falls in love with his classmate and so runs away, leaving his parents on their own. This is actually a very common event . Nowadays people tend to fall in love early and totally forget their parents. It is a shock how this new person in your life suddenly means everything to you, while your parents on the other side means nothing when they have been there with you through good and bad in life. This is a popular mistake we tend to make. If you see in the film when Ramalingham runs away from home, his parents are old , and are left on their own.
Just imagine when you have children, and that your child runs away in your old age. How would you feel? This is breaking the love and trust of our parents. They do everything for us, and is this the way to thank them back?
So, the old parents are left alone, by sons who chase their own dreams and destinations. Such things would hurt parents deeply, and it is important that we don't hurt them.
Parents have different ways of showing their love. Whether they do it in a soft way or not, their love would always remain with us till the end. Cheran also shows how Ramalingham comes back to his parents realising his mistake. Here, you think why did you do it in the first place. Therefore it is better to think first, before doing something.
The director shows the mother who rejects her son,daughter-in-law and grandchild when they arrive to seek forgiveness. But as soon as she hears her gandchild, she can't take it. Why? Because her love is true. This relates to the saying ''When we fall in love, we forget our parents. But our parents will never forget about us''. We realise here, how parental love is never ending.
Even though we are in Uk, it doesn't mean our parents have easy lives they all go through difficult pathways, and so we should appreciate the things they do for us.
Now at this young age, our parents are looking after us, but when we start earning, we shouldn't just go in our own directions. It is our duty and turn to look after our parents, after how much they've done for us, which is countless.

This film really illustrates the mistakes children make, and how parents are affected by them. Another example is that they bring up their children really well, but when they start going to high schools, the problem of smoking and love starts. For youngsters, smoking, drinking , love and drugs is where all the problem starts.
But by watching this film, you will hopefully understand How parents should be treated, and the mistakes we make without realising.
