உலகமயமாக்கல் எனும் இந்தச் சொற்பதத்தை பிரான்சில் கல்வி கற்கும் போதுதான் முதன் முதலாக அறிந்து கொண்டேன். உலகமயமாக்கல் என்பது உலகில் உள்ள நாடுகள் அனைத்தையும் முன்னேற்றும் வழி என்றுதான் மேலை நாட்டுக் கல்வி போதித்தது. பின்னாளில் உலக மயமாக்கல் என்பதே உடல் நலத்துடன் உள்ள ஒரு விளையாட்டு வீரனுக்குப் போட்டியாக ஒரு ஊனமுற்றவனை ஓட வைக்க முயலும் அபத்தமான வழி என்பதுடன் உலகிலுள்ள தேசிய இன மக்களின் நலன்களையும் அவர்களின் மண் வளங்களை எந்த அளவிற்கு பாதிக்கின்றது என்பதையும் தெரிந்து கொண்டன்.

சென்ற முறை மட்டக்களப்பு மாந்திரீகத்தைப் பற்றி எழுதினேன் அது பற்றிய விபரங்களைத் தொடர்கிறேன்.  எங்கள் ஊரில் கந்தசாமியென்று ஒரு பூசாரி இருந்தார்.  அவர் கடும் மந்திரவாதியென்று எல்லோருக்கும் தெரியும்.  உடலெங்கும் மூன்று கோடிட்ட திரிபுண்டரம் எனப்படும் திருநீற்றுப் பூச்சோடு வேட்டியும், மேலாடையில்லாமல் ஒரு துண்டும் போட்டுக்கொண்டு திரிவார்.  மிகவும் சாந்தமானவர்.  எப்போதும் சிரித்த முகத்தோடுதான் இருப்பார்.  அவர் ஓரு சேட்டையோ அல்லது பெனியனையோ போட்டு நான் பார்த்ததில்லை.  பளிச்சென்ற வெள்ளை உடம்பு.  கோயில் ஐயர்மார் போலத்தான் இருப்பார்.  மரக்கறிதான் சாப்பிடுவாராம் என்று சொல்வார்கள்

In March, there was a special competition, which Tamil students across London took part in. It was the UKTSU BBP – United Kingdom Tamil Students’ Union Britian’s Brainiest Pillai (“child” in Tamil.) There was a 1st round and a 2nd round. In the first round there was a written test of 50 questions about general knowledge. If you passed that, you would go to the 2nd round, which was when a member of the UKTSU asked you questions alone verbally, and you had to answer them verbally back. There were two divisions, Under 12’s and Under 14’s, these groups would compete separately to make it fair.

Two weeks after the 1st round and 2nd round, I found out I passed to the 3rd and final round. This was would be very huge, as I would have to compete with others in front of a live audience in Copland School in Wembley. This ironically was also like my other column on the 14th of July. The 3rd round of competition took place at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

So straight after I attended the protest rally at Trafalgar Square, I went to the competition. The well-organised members of TSU, gave us tags, with our name and a number. I was in the group 4. We went onto the stage, and got ready for the questions. I could see my Amma and my brother Mahison in the audience. It was quite tense, we had whiteboards, pens and rubbers; and the happy host called out the nine general knowledge questions, which we drew on the whiteboards, and showed to the judges and the audience. After every group was finished, and the marking was finished, it was decided who would go to the next round.

கிழக்கில் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் மிகுதியாக இருந்த பகுதியாகிய குடும்பிமலையையும் (தொப்பிக்கல) சிறிலங்காப் படையினர் கைப்பற்றி விட்டனர்

ஏறக்குறைய மூன்று மாதங்கள் செய்த சண்டைகளி;ன் மூலம் குடும்பிமலையின் மையப்பகுதியை சிறிலங்காப் படையினர் கடந்த 11.07.07 அன்று அடைந்தனர்.

சிறிலங்காப் படைகள் முன்னேற்றிய போது விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் தரப்பில் இருந்து எவ்வித எதிர்ப்பும் வரவில்லை. விடுதலைப் புலிகள் தேவையற்ற இழப்புக்களை தவிர்க்கும் பொருட்டு வேறு பகுதிகளை நோக்கி நகர்ந்து விட்டனர்.

குடும்பிமலையில் நிலைகொண்டிருந்ததாக கருதப்பட்ட பல நூற்றுக் கணக்கான போராளிகளும் தளபதிகளும் சிறிலங்காப் படைகளின் முற்றுகையை உடைத்துக் கொண்டு, பெரும்பாலான ஆயுத தளபாடங்களோடு வேறு பகுதிக்கு நகர்ந்து சென்ற விட்டார்கள்.

மலையாளமொழியில்  தண்ணீருக்கு “வெள்ளம்” என்று சொல்வார்கள் என்று கேள்விப்பட்டபின் எனக்கு ஒரு கேள்வி தோன்றி அதற்கு விடைதெரியாமல் மலையாளம்  “ பறையக்”கூடியவர்களைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு திரிகிறேன்.

வெள்ளமாகத் தண்ணீர் வந்தால் அதை மலையாளத்தில் எப்பிடிச் சொல்வது?

எங்கள் ஊரில் வெள்ளம் வந்த காலத்தை நினைத்துப்பார்க்கிறேன். நூறே நூறு பேர் வந்த விழாக்களையே ஜனவெள்ளம் வந்தது, எள்ளுப்போட்டால் எள்ளு விழாத கூட்டம் (எள்ளுப்போட்டால் வேறென்ன கொள்ளா விழும்) என்றெல்லாம் பத்திரிகைகளில் எழுதுகிறார்கள். இது எங்கள் ஊரில் உண்மையாகவே வெள்ளம் வந்தது.

வணக்கம் எல்லாருக்கும்

ஒரு பேப்பர் நாலாவது ஆண்டிலை அடியெடுத்து வைக்கிறது அதற்கான பாராட்டு   திட்டு வசைபாடல் வாழ்த்து என்று சும்மா கலகலப்பா போய்க்கொண்டிருக்கு. அதற்கு இந்த லைலாவின் வாழ்த்துக்களும் லாசப்பலில் நின்றபடி  சொல்லுறன்.

ஒரு பேப்பர் பாரீஸ் மற்றும் அதை அண்டிய புற நகர் பகுதிகளிற்கு மட்டுமே கிடைப்பதாகவும் மற்றும் தமிழர்கள் அதிகமாக வாழுகின்ற மற்றை நகரங்களிற்கு கிடைப்பதிலை என்று பலர் குறை பட்டு கொள்கினம்.

இணைய வசதி உள்ளவை இணையத்தில் படிக்கலாம் மற்றவவை நீங்களா ஏதாவது வழி பண்ணினால் அனுப்பி வைக்கலாம்.

அடுத்ததாக பாரிசிலை வெத்திலை பெட்டிகளின் கூட்டம் அண்மையில் நடை பெற்றது. அது என்ன வெத்திலை பெட்டிகளின் கூட்டமா என்று யேசிக்கிறீங்களா.

என்னது ஏதோ குழந்தை பிள்ளைகள் கதைக்க தொடங்கிற காலத்திலை கதைச்ச மாதிரி இருக்கே எண்டு யோசிக்கிறீங்களா. கடந்த வார ஒரு பேப்பரில் பாலச்சந்திரன் அண்ணாவும் பா.வை.ஜெயபலனும் ஆடிமாதத்து நினைவுகளை கிழப்பிவிட்டு போய் விட்டார்கள். அதனால்தான் எனது இந்த ஆடிமாதத்து நினைவும். ஆனால் இது அம்மி பறந்த நினைவு அல்ல ஆனால் இது இலங்கையில் 83ம் ஆண்டு தமிழர் அடிவாங்கி பறந்தோடிய ஆண்டு நினைவு.

குடும்பி மலை காட்டுப்பிரதேசத்தைக் கைப்பற்றிக் கொண்டதுடன் கிழக்குப்பகுதியை முழுவதுமாக விடுதலைப்புலிகளிடமிருந்து விடுவித்துக் கொண்டதாக விழா எடுத்துக் கொண்டாடியுள்ளார் மகிந்த ராஜபக்ச. கிழக்கில் கிடைக்கப்பெற்ற வெற்றியானது தற்காலிகமானது என்பதனை விளங்கிக்கொள்ளாத முட்டாளாக அவர் இருப்பார் என நாம் நம்பவில்லை. இருப்பினும்  சிங்கள மக்களை முட்டாளாக்கி தன்னை சரித்திர நாயகனாகக் காட்டிக்கொள்ள விரும்பும் மகிந்தவுக்கு அரசியல் ஆதாயம் தேட இதை விட்டால் இனி ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பம் கிடைக்கப்போவதில்லை.

Napoleon won the battle of Waterloo. The German Wehrmacht won World War II. The United States won in Vietnam, and the Soviets in Afghanistan. The Zealots won against the Romans, and Sri Lankan President Rajapakse has won the War against Tamils.

You didn't know that?

Well, on the 19th of  July 2007 a ‘prestigious’ national event ‘Negenahira Navodaya’ (eastern resurgence in Sinhalese Language) was held at the Independence Square, Colombo with President Rajapaksa presiding as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. This ceremony has marked the comprehensive victory and the liberation of the Tamil East from the Tamil Tigers and felicitated the victorious Sri Lanka Armed Forces who had contributed to this ‘humanitarian’ effort, according to the Sri Lankan regime. Symbolising the triumphant completion of the operations, the Armed Forces Chiefs have presented a  ‘sannasa’ (parchment in Sinhala Language) at this victory ceremony to President Rajapaksa, who thereafter proclaimed the defeat of Tamil Nation.

A Tamil journalist described the event as ‘the regime is planning a “victory” celebration in a conquisitadorial spirit. Just as Chandrika Kumaratunga had Anuruddha Ratwatte ceremonially deliver “Yapa Patuna” to her, Mahinda Rajapakse wants “Naginahira” to be handed over symbolically amid pomp and pageantry. Such types of ceremonies were reserved for extraneous conquests during medieval times.’

For us, the Tamil Expatriates, this celebration of war and these medieval victory ceremonies remind us of the Sinhalese racism and why our people are still fighting.
