Elders know much more than youngsters

The article titled ‘’Roots’’ has really inspired me to write to you all. It was a really meaningful article, which you should all read.
In today’s world, many youngsters turn around and tell their parents, and grandparents, this is not Sri Lanka, this is London.
I do agree this is London, however, we should not change the way we should be, and behave. We tend to miss the point, when our elders say don’t do that, or don’t go there. But there will be a time, when we get married, and have children, and when they turn into teenagers. At that time, we will be so worried about them, and do everything to protect them, and when they will in return tell us, this is not Sri Lanka, and this is London, that’s when we will learn our lessons. Nevertheless, when the time comes for us to understand our mistake, it will be too late, to ask forgiveness. Whatever, our elders say, will have a reason for it, there will be a meaning, but we must not question back, as they do everything they can for our happiness. You may feel agitated, but just think about it, think about, how would you want your children to be? Surely, no matter what our parents say will always be right, with a right purpose. They know much more than us, and have far more experiences than us. Therefore, it will always be wise, for us to seek advice from them.
I think, especially in this world right now, which is full of crime, as you all are aware of, advice from them should not be neglected at all.

Do not forget about Madeleine

Readers I do not know what you think about Madeleine’s disappearance right now. But I really hope and still pray that, she is somewhere out there. The public seems to have quietened down, as it’s nearly going to be one year she’s missing. However, the quietness is bad news, as we must keep on doing everything we can to find her. I know you are probably thinking ‘’what can we do?’’, well the answer is ‘’Pray’’. The fact that Madeleine was 3, when she was abducted, and that it’s nearly one year, really hurts me. It is unbelievable, that there are no traces, of where she could be.
About Madeleine: Madeleine was born on the 12th May 2003, and was a very happy, as well as a popular child. She’s a very active child, who’s always running around and at all times doing something. A noticeable identification feature, is her right eye where the pupil runs into the iris in the form of a black radial strip reaching from the pupil out to the edge of the white.
Madeleine’s parents McCann have spoken of their delight, and hope, as missing Shannon Matthews was found alive. They said it has given them faith in finding their daughter Madeleine, and that they will never give up, until Madeleine is found. Surely, she will be found soon, as hundreds of police are involved in her search, not forgetting all the advertising going on about Madeleine’s disappearance. Let’s all hope, and pray that she will be found as soon as possible. Imagining such situation in my life really scares me. I am even unable, to even think about such circumstance. Therefore, what her family is going through must be so terrible. Imagine, having lost your close one, for like nearly a year…unimaginable right…This issue is a great sadness, and mystery, which is ongoing. The public must not forget her, and posters, and everything relating to her search must not stop. Everyone should be aware, and keep being reminded of her.

Santosh Subramanium: An excellent movie

Starring: Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Genelia, Kausalya, Geetha, Premji Gangai Amaran

This movie has a special blend of love, family emotions, and bonds. Santosh Subramanium is one of the movies, where Jeyam Ravi faces a choice between love and family. Who will compromise, or would there ever be a justified understanding, forms the rest of the story.
Jeyam Ravi in this movie has a perfect family, and such happiness. But still, within himself, he’s frustrated. He plays the role of an obedient child, but has a dream of marrying the girl he loves. Genelia plays the role of a bubbly, smiling girl, who has friends wherever she goes.
The director has well portrayed how a child should be. For example, by respecting their parents, and not talking back. How a child should behave, is clearly shown by Jeyam Ravi.
In life, many fathers do their best for their children, but it sometimes leads to misunderstanding. For instance, Prakash Raj over cares Jeyam Ravi, and decides every single thing from beginning to end in his life, which is not a problem, as he wants best for his son. However, he lacks understanding his son’s happiness, and he doesn’t give him a chance to speak. Another point is that he doesn’t ask him what he likes, what he does not, everything is chosen only by the father, and this is where he makes a huge mistake.
The key point of this movie is, understanding every member in a family, it’s such a vital point.
Therefore, the best way of coming to an understanding, is by talking to each other, and solving our issues. If we are affectionate towards someone we must be honest, and tell them exactly how we feel.
As well as, the way the father and son make up is such an emotional scene. This is how we should also be, when we realise our mistakes, we must make peace, and be happy again.
The way Jeyam Ravi persuades his whole family, and does things in the right order is wonderful. I’m glad that, he doesn’t run away from home.

Suffering children in Sri Lanka

It is so shocking to see many children suffering in Sri Lanka everyday. There’s just not a full stop to it, which brings such sadness into our lives. Children suffer to such big extent, that they are unable to eat, due to lack of money, and so starts to beg in railway stations. The situations are so worse in Sri Lanka, due to all the wars, which mean that practically no one has a peaceful life. The awful situations sometimes lead parents to abandon their children, as they can’t afford to look after them. In fact a high number of lives have been affected by Tsunami, but the number just cannot be justified. Lots of people have lost their loved ones, homes, jobs, and everything they owned. So when we compare our lives to them, you can see the massive difference. But we just don’t realise, and complain so much, and are never satisfied with the amount of things we have or even the big issue ‘’money’’. People, who have money, want more and more money, which I think is so common, but so wrong, and these type of people need to stop and think. To tell you the truth, if you are provided with or eat 3 meals everyday, then you’re considered as rich. Because those people don’t even get that, they starve for food, and just hope that they will be able to eat at least once a day.

As you all may know... we are in a very critical point in our nation's fight for freedom ... but how many of us actually believe that we would get our goal. That we would achieve what we have been fighting for, for many years. We have given up lives of many youngsters and adults for what? one dream. The dream of a freedom TAMIL EELAM... So why is it that when i speak to someone. they give me a whole reason why we would not get our eelam and the fact that we would have to live in these foreign countries forever...

Is dat true? Do you believe that these countries are our home land now? Is this where we belong and our children and our grand children???

Political mutations and emergence of Pillaiyan

“A servant can have no unfeigned respect for his master”
- Bernard de Mandeville (1670 – 1733)

I am working through a very hectic schedule at the moment, that’s why I could not scribble my ‘thoughts’ these days. The latest transformation of ‘Supreme Commander’ Pillaiyan to a democratically elected Chief Minister of EPC forced me to write now. In history, there had never been an instance that a puppet regime succeeded in crushing the rebellion / insurgency and the will of the oppressed people.
These kind of political comedies are not a new phenomenon to us but this event (EPC swearing in ceremony) should emboldened the Tamil unity further and we should rally behind the Tamil national leadership.

Today I bought a book on ‘Political hypocrisy’ by David Runciman, an academic from the Cambridge University. It seems to be very interesting and helping me to find answers to few of my long standing questions. I am hoping to write about this book and my long standing ‘search’ for the truth.

Spirituality

Birth (God's wish) gives us the identity "Religion" through which we are meant to see GOD.
SPIRITUALITY teaches the LAW according to GOD
Just as there are laws that govern matter , so there is SPIRITUAL laws.

Spirituality begins with understanding.
Spiritual understanding are:
1. the understanding of myself and how I view myself in relation to the world.
2. understanding the law of cause and effect
3. the understanding of God in deeper level

There can't be a Religion with out Spirituality.
But it is hardly expressed in this modern world.

Don't miss your fortune !
SPIRITUALITY brings out the sense of sacredness that is common in many religion.

THE ART OF THINKING

THE ART OF THINKING ____ By BK JAYANTI

Here I refer the first few pages from the easy reading book "The art of thinking " :

The basis for the art of thinking is the art of living and the basis for the art of living is the art of thinking.
Whatever my thoughts, that is what I become.
We achieve our dreams and aspirations on the basis of our own thinking.
If I want to make may life full of truth and beauty, then let my thoughts be full of truth and beauty.
This sounds very simple but our thoughts are rather like a ball of mercury, difficult to capture.
The mind moves in a thousand different directions and at great speed.Sometimes we don’t know where it is going or why, and only after the experience do we begin to see what has happened. Then we say, “Why did that happen?” We don’t realise that it is I myself who allowed it to happen.
If something happens which we don’t like, very often the human tendency is to point "out there”.
Gandhi made the famous observation that IF YOU POINT ONE FINGER OUTWARDS,
YOU ARE ACTUALLY POINTING THREE FINGERS TOWARDS YOURSELF ! Try it ! This little gesture is an indicator that when I start thinking that what’s happening “out there” is responsible for my experience , I need to remind myself that I am the creator of my own thoughts and responses. I am responsible for my own state of peace, wellbeing, happiness and love. It is not somebody or something else that is responsible for any of these things.Realising my responsibility, I am challenged to make a decision whether to take on all that negativity or rather to respond creatively with positive thoughts and responses from my own inner world.

Where do I begin? I can begin with DETACHMENT (DETACHED OBSERVER)
This is a word that is very much mis-understood. Detachment doesn’t mean cutting off.
It doesn’t mean running away.
It means learning to separate two different things, the world outside and the world inside,

Please find the attached article referred from the web :

What is Tamil Eelam?
Tamil Eelam is a de facto state in Indian Ocean. It is located below the Tamil Nadu state of India and in the North East of Sri Lanka. The state of Tamil Eelam has been established by the people living there under the right of self determination given by International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights , Article 1, to which Sri Lanka is a signatory.
The proposed size of the independent nation of Tamil Eelam is 19,509 km². This makes Tamil Eelam the 153 largest country/independent territory in the world. There are a total of 232 country/independent territories in the world.
Tamil Eelam would be larger than East Timor at 14,874 km², which is the newest formed country in the world. East Timor gained independence after 24 years of Indonesia occupation on May 20, 2002.

Why did Tamils in Sri Lanka want Tamil Eelam?
Sri Lanka, which was renamed in Sinhala in 1972, had been called as Ceylon by British during colonial times. Before 1833, the Tamil people were under different administration. They had their own kingdoms, culture and language which are very different from those of Sinhalese until 1505. The first colonial invasion took place in 1505. British brought Tamils and Sinhalese under one administration in 1833 and called this new colony as Ceylon.

Don't get mad, get wise

THE RELAXATION CENTRE :
THIS IS YOUR VERY OWN PLACE TO FIND THE METHODS AND MEANS
TO HELP YOU RELAX DURING TURBULENT TIMES AND TAKE WITH YOU INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE.

We all now recognise that relaxation is much more than a game of tennis, a walk in the mountains or a hot bath.
At the heart of learning to relax is the art of caring for all three levels of our being – body, mind and spirit.
We are also realising that we have been misled by the mythology of 'get your body right and your mind will follow'. This is the illusion sustained by many of todays ‘relaxation industries’ .
The truth is much more freeing – when we enlighten our spirit (our self), then relaxation follows naturally, and our true peaceful, loving and contented nature is restored. This, in turn, is the basis of our mental and physical well being. Hence the wisdom in the saying, "rest does not come with sleeping, it comes with waking"!

The purpose of The Relaxation Centre is not to help you plan your jogging timetable, design your diet or recommend holiday destinations. Our purpose is to offer you the wisdom, insights and methods to relax your spirit, rediscover your own inner peace (which has been there all along), focus your mind and help you to manage yourself more effectively during increasingly busy days.

SC Chandrahasan – The Harilal of Tamileelam

“Another thing that has changed now is the approach of the army. Earlier, in the eighties, they used to attack Tamil civilians. Now civilians are not attacked”

- SC Chandrahasan

The above comment was made by SC Chandrahasan, the son of SJV Chelvanayagam, when asked about reduced refugee influx to the Tamilnadu state during this latest phase of war. He further said,

“Some of us who believe in the non-violent process know that the struggle will go on until justice is achieved. It will go on much more effectively if the LTTE is not in the picture”

“They (LTTE) have become a problem rather than the solution”

Of course we are witnessing greatest political tragedies at the moment, for example Pillaiyan has become the face of moderate Tamil political leadership and even international agencies are compelled to deal with this low IQ thug. But SC Chandrahasan’s comments are outrageous, unwarranted and hilarious. I presume SC Chandrahasan is far more sensible person than Pillaiyan because of his education and association with the ‘enlighten’ people.

This reminds me about Harilal, the eldest son of Mahatma Gandhi and his open feud with his father. He deliberately embarrassed Gandhi in public and he was being used by the British authorities to undermine the Gandhi and the freedom struggle.

SC Chandrahasan identifies himself with the non violence process of the Tamileelam struggle, he thinks we have forgotten about his association with the TELO and later he was kicked out of the organisation.

He should avoid commenting on Tamileelam affairs and he should concentrate on his daughter’s ‘Tamil nationalistic services’ and the services to the Brahmins of South block. He should be mindful that this kind of traitorous utterances will not be tolerated in future. He will be tried in absentia for treason by the Tamileelam judiciary.

He may be trying to live up to standard of his father’s title ‘Gandhi of Eelam’!!

DBS Jeyaraj – Pathologically Cynical Mind

When I see a couple of kids
And guess he’s fucking her and she’s
Taking pills or wearing a diaphragm,
I know this is paradise

-Philip Larkin (1922 – 1985)

In the past DBS had castigated many Tamil journalists and academics for vilifying Neelan Thiruchelvam in the media even after his death. He argued that in Tamil tradition dead people are treated with great respect even if they are enemies. Its look like, he is preaching to others and fails to practise in his writings. In his latest column he labelled the assassinated parliamentarian Kiddinan Sivanesan as ‘Tiger acolyte’. This clearly depicts his (DBS) pathological mind and animosity towards the current political and military leadership of Tamils on the basis that they are not representing the ‘liberal intelligentsia’ of old Jaffna establishment.

“More importantly when Amirthalingam made a statement or leveled a charge it carried weight and credibility. It was taken seriously at international levels. His complaints could not be dismissed lightly as tiger propaganda. This was not the case with Sivanesan a tiger acolyte whose “propaganda” was limited mainly to pro tiger Tamil media”.

- DBS Jeyaraj

He conveniently forgets the fact that then opposition leader was none other than the Amirthalingam and the mantle of Tamil political leadership was still on the shoulders of his beloved Amir anna. Since the intensification of Tamil national liberation struggle as an armed insurgency there was a convergence of political and military leadership and that culminated in current LTTE – TNA political apparatus.
Unfortunately DBS is not going to stop his abominations towards Tamil nationalists and he wants us to be intoxicated with his Tamil grapevine.
